Parkdale

Parkdale

Parkdale is a neighbourhood in the west end of Toronto near the Waterfront. It is bordered by Roncesvalles Avenue to the west, Dufferin Street to the east, Wright Avenue to the north, and Lake Ontario to the south. Parkdale has a combination of beautiful Victorian homes and condos for sale. It was once a separate village from Toronto, and the affluent homes are a lasting reminder of that time. There are also community centres and schools, including Parkdale Collegiate. King Street West and Queen Street West offer plenty of cool restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and clothing shops. Various parkettes provide green space, and the nearby waterfront or High Park are incredible places to enjoy the outdoors. Parkdale is an eclectic area with quick access to shopping, dining, and recreation. Along Queen St West you'll find plenty of popular live music venues and cool bars.

The Neighbours

Real estate in Parkdale is attractive to working-age people, mostly between age 25-54. Condo buildings and apartments make up a lot of real estate here. Over 60% of the buildings in South Parkdale are buildings over 5 stories. Local Insight: “On nice days I head lakeside and ride my bike for hours along the beautiful waterside trail.”

What It's Like

Entertainment nearby and along the Waterfront. The shops in Parkdale are diverse, quirky, and fun. Shop for art, books, vegan produce, or anything under the sun! You can quickly get to venues by the lake, including the Canadian National Exhibition Grounds. Within the heart of Parkdale are beloved community venues including Parkdale Activity-Recreation Centre that has an Art Fair and many great programs for kids and adults.

What You'll Like

What to Expect: Activity! Though the area has many pleasant side-streets, there are also major streets in that are very active places. Queen Street West is one of Toronto’s favourite streets for shopping and night life. Roncevalles Avenue also has great restaurants and bars. Parkdale is a very commutable and walkable neighbourhood, due to Roncesvalles, King, and Queen streetcar routes. The Gardiner Expressway is also right nearby, less than ten minutes away by car. If you want to get outside, head to the waterfront, and walk along the nearby shores of the lake. Or, head west to High Park for a day riding along lush trails or visiting zoo animals. Sorauren Park is where you'll find an off-leash dog park, a Farmer’s Market, playing fields, and a tennis court.   What NOT to Expect: There aren't a lot of office towers here, so you probably can’t walk to work. However, the downtown core is a only a quick ride by TTC. A Day in the Life: Your Parkdale condo is located in the south end of the neighbourhood, which means you can see the lake from your living room! Walk to the coffee shop for breakfast, then meet your friends at Sorauren Park. Challenge them to a game of Scrabble in the shade of the trees. Head to the brewery on Queen West for an ice cold beer on the patio. Go shopping at the vintage clothing shop for a beaded dress to wear to the show tonight. Meet your date at the free country concert at the CNE, and dance by the water as the sun goes down.In Summary: Parkdale has enviable access to all the action on King and Queen West, as well as the peaceful beauty of the waterfront.
